
ARTIST AT WORK . Yin-Fan Choi
1951 Yin Fan Choi was born in Hong Kong. While he was young, he didn’t have the opportunity to take lessons on painting since his family had a modest income. By entered into numerous colouring, drawing, painting, or Chinese calligraphy contests, he was able to receive many of his favourite toys.
1966 He was attending Hong Kong Pui Ying Middle School. Under the guidance of several instructors: Leung, Shek Fung, Chan, Po Chun, and Chui, Wing Kwai, he began to familiarize Chinese painting, pastel drawing, charcoal sketching, water colour, and some basic history of western arts. Through Mr. Leung, Yin Fan learned the important skills for Chinese landscape painting. Mr. Chan also made a great impact on Jimmy by introducing him the true value of realistic arts. From Mr. Chui, he gained knowledge of plane design and fundamental western arts history.
1968 Hong Kong was in a period of political uproar, and the economic depression became the aftermath. At that time, Yin Fan was focused solely on arts. 出生於香港的蔡賢藩為加籍華人藝術家。自小愛好繪畫藝術,並不斷地研習進修。自76年畢業於台灣國立台灣師範大學社會教育系後,78年進入香港佛教能仁書院藝術系攻讀,主修國畫和書法。並隨隔山派前輩麥語詩先生學習。79年獲香港中國文化協會和中國書道會青年書法獎,80年取得藝術學士,為語詩畫會永久會員。82年赴法國進修,83年進入法國國立里昂藝術學院主修油畫和雕塑,85年獲法國3M藝術家油畫獎,為法國中法藝術家協會永久會員,87年取得藝術碩士。88年以一件鑄銅作品「矛盾」獲香港馬會和市政局雕塑獎,並將作品永久豎立於香港九龍公園雕塑廊內。87年移居加拿大,為溫哥華華人藝術家永久會員, 94-95年及2000-2003年曾任加拿大烈治文中國書畫學會會長 ; 2004-2006年任該會副會長。也為溫哥華「十二藝術家」成員之一。曾在世界各地包括香港、台灣、中國、法國、美國和加拿大舉行個展和聯展,為一位頗活躍的藝術家。★
